Our take: OMMA Chicken Soup is doing something genuinely unusual — hawker-priced samgyetang developed by chefs with Michelin-star backgrounds, slow-simmered for eight hours without MSG, pork, or lard.
The $7.80 Ginseng Omma is the one to order: a whole drumstick-and-thigh piece that falls off the bone cleanly, a broth with quiet natural sweetness, and ginkgo nuts and wolfberries that add real texture.
Add the $0.70 mee sua rather than rice — the rice has drawn mushy complaints.
Fair warning: the broth reads clean and gentle, not the punchy gao-gao depth of a Seoul samgyetang house, and if that's what you're benchmarking against, manage expectations accordingly.
The kimchi side is genuinely good and worth the add-on.
Consistency has wobbled as the team has expanded to new outlets — early reviews note a dip in quality and slower service when newer staff are running the counter.
Go to the original Bedok 216 location on a weekday and arrive by 11:30am to get the best of what this stall can do.
Worth the queue for health-conscious lunch-goers who want a restorative bowl at a price point that no restaurant can match.

What customers say
OMMA Chicken Soup has built a strong following across its Bedok 216, Alexandra Village, Northpoint, and Compass One outlets, with customers consistently praising the slow-simmered, MSG-free ginseng and collagen broths as nourishing and authentic at a hawker-friendly price of $6.80–$7.80.
The fall-off-the-bone tender chicken — particularly the whole drumstick-and-thigh version — and the house kimchi are the standout highlights, drawing comparisons to Korean restaurant-quality samgyetang.
Recurring criticisms include inconsistent soup portions (especially for takeaway), reduced or removed condiments such as sesame oil and kimchi for dabao orders, and service variability linked to newer or undertrained staff at some outlets.
Queue length is frequently noted but generally accepted given the value, though a few customers flag early sell-outs and inconsistent operating hours as frustrations.

“I was told by the staff they changed the container for takeaway but when I got home I realised the soup portion was almost half of the previous container. The soup did not cover the chicken thigh. Very disappointing with the new portion in the changed takeaway container.”

Went a few weeks back on a weekday and they already closed. Came here for early lunch today. Initially, wanted to order just one soup for sharing between my wife and I but decided to try 2 soups instead. Had the collagen chicken soup with rice and the ginseng chicken soup with noodle (mee sua). Both were excellent but if I had to choose just one, I'll go with the ginseng chicken soup. The chicken leg is so tender and drops off from the bone easily. If you prefer, you can also dip into the salt provided for an enhanced flavour. It lso comes with some kimchi on the side. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food. The queue is quite long, so be prepared to wait.

Soup was quite tasty and gelatinous. They give seasoning powder and soy sauce on the side for you to tailor your own level of umami/saltiness Chicken portions are generous. It's sou-vided and quite tender, though the meat could be a bit more seasoned The mee sua is nice but the portion is a bit small. The rice is one area where they can really improve, mine came out a bit mushy I've had the collagen chicken soup and sesame collagen chicken soup. Overall, I like this place and will continue to support and patronize it Be prepared to queue a bit

What a great additional to a hawker centre already with so many other yummy food. The Korean ginseng chicken, although with one ginseng only and the look, but the taste is surely living up to it's hype. The ginseng is strong but not over-powering, clear soup with good portion of chicken meat, rice, and kimchi side. Also recommend to order extra kimchi to share. Next time will try the collagen soup to taste the difference, but surely will be back for the ginseng chicken soup if craving for it or on a rain day.
